Color is an influential tool to evoke emotion and direction within landscape. Vibrant warm colors of red, orange, and yellow create a visual warmth that brings the garden closer and more intimate. Cool colors of blue, purple, and green create a relaxing environment. They make a space feel larger and exaggerate the distance from the viewer.

Pairing a warm and cool color together weaves a splendid statement while providing prolonged interest through a variety of plants. Consider planting Black-Eyed-Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida) with Blue Mistflower (Eonoclinium coelestinum) for an eye-catching combination.

Color in the landscape doesn’t have to rely solely on flowers.  Well placed focal sculptures, furniture, bird baths, or ornaments can add a dependable pop of color!
