About Stoney Bank
We are trained to see the promise of your landscape. We combine practical knowledge and creativity with your hopes and dreams. Using the technical aspects of composition and the very best natural materials, we build one of a kind, once in a lifetime surroundings, for generations of enjoyment.
Our Founder, Jack Blandy, has been a well-known, creative force in the industry for decades. His inherent talent, and years of hands-on experience, set the tone for exceptional design on properties along the Mainline and throughout the Delaware Valley. As Jack shared his skillset, he was also acquiring new technologies in conceptual design from his son Joe. Now as President, Joe provides a rare perspective of their integrated experience with a demonstrated record of excellence.
Selecting plant materials to thrive in each environment has been the bedrock of every plan. On location at the 24-acre nursery in Glen Mills, we cultivate rare specimen trees, plants and shrubs. There we also grow distinct and unusual trees, shrubs and perennials for wholesale purchase by other landscape professionals.
AT Stoney Bank Nurseries, WE ARE pulled INTO THE pleasure of gardens.
EVERY plant, EVERY material, EVERY angle, EVERY detail.
As principal landscape architect, Joe utilizes his deep rooted experience in the landscape construction and design industry to create unique and innovative design solutions for the most challenging projects. Growing up in the landscape industry has provided Joe with more than 25 years of experience and a unique and comprehensive understanding of the natural environment. Working closely with each client, Joe is dedicated to listening and understanding the client’s vision for their property and strives to create exceptional landscapes of uncompromised quality. Under his leadership Stoney Bank Nurseries, Inc. has won ‘Best In Show’ honors at the Philadelphia Flower Show in 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016 and 2018 along with an International Gold Medal in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. In 2013 Stoney Bank Nurseries, Inc. won the Gold Medal award for the historic restoration and preservation project at Rose Valley Farm in Rose Valley, PA. from the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association. He has been recognized along with his father Jack Blandy, with their induction into Temple University’s Gallery of Success for their individual and combined achievements in the landscape design and construction field. They were the first father and son duo to receive this honor. Joe is a registered landscape architect in Pennsylvania and Delaware as well as a current member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and Men’s Garden Club of Philadelphia. He has published articles in Green Scene magazine and has lectured at Longwood Gardens and numerous other venues. Joe holds his bachelors of science degree in Landscape Architecture from Temple University obtained in 2000. He is currently serving as a board member for Jenkins Arboretum.
As a Pennsylvania registered Landscape Architect at Stoney Bank Nurseries, Hannah develops unique and personal outdoor spaces reflective of local architecture and natural characteristics through multimedia sketches, perspectives, 3D models, and plans. She graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Temple University with a bachelors of science in Landscape Architecture and an Art minor. She was presented an Award of Merit in 2011 by the Pennsylvania/Delaware Chapter American Society of Landscape Architects and is the recipient of the 2011 John Collins Drawing Award. Stoney Bank Nurseries’ founder Jack Blandy is widely recognized as one of the Delaware Valley’s premier landscape designers and horticulturalists. He began forging his path in the landscape and nursery business more than thirty years ago with a Temple University degree in ornamental horticulture. Since then, Jack has been a major exhibitor in the Philadelphia Flower Show—and has won six Best In Show awards, multiple Philadelphia Flower Show Awards, The Buckley Award, The Governors Trophy, and The American Horticultural Society Citation for Garden Design. A Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturalist and an Accredited Pennsylvania Nurseryman, Jack also served on the Flower Show Executive Committee, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Council from 1995-2001, and is a past board member and vice chairman of the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Associations’ Foundation of Ornamental Horticulture.
